Sick - Israel, Day 4

[written January 8]

I am sick again. As many of you may know, I was sick before I left, but was feeling much better before my trans-Atlantic flight. But my antibiotics ran out on Friday and within 48 hours, I was being taken to a pharmacy in Bethlehem. So I had cough syrup and decongrestant in hand when the armed border guard asked for my ID as I crossed the wall out of the West Bank.

I was feeling miserable this morning. But I wanted to attend our meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I was physically present for those meetings, but I knew I wouldn't make it through the day. So I had Itzhak, our bus driver take me back to the hotel as the rest of our crew went to the Israeli Museum and the Holocaust Museum. I wish I could be there with them. But I know that if I don't take this time to rest now, I will be equally miserable, if not more so, for the rest of the week. And I don't want to miss any more.

So, here I sit in my bed at the King Solomon Hotel watching the sun set over the city of Jerusalem. You know, this city really is golden at sunset. Absolutely amazing!
