Yesterday, for just a brief moment, the sun stood still. Did you notice? Our planet, tilting on its axis, held those of us in the northern hemisphere up to be kissed by our sun. It's the closest we'll be to the sun until this time next year.
Summer has officially begun. And so has the shortening of days. The earth spins, carrying us away from our star.
Yesterday was the solstice, from the Latin sol, meaning sun, and sistere, to stand still. Too bad I didn't stop, stand still, and bask in the solar embrace. I hope you did.
