Election Day Haikus

For a couple of years, I used to wake up and before getting out of bed, I would write a haiku. Usually, they were very bad, but about once a month or so, I would write something decent. And the practice kept my creative juices flowing and the discipline in rhythm helped my songwriting tremendously. Since moving to Chicago, I haven't practiced this discipline, but recently, I started up again. Okay, well, yesterday, I started up again, so I am two days into this revived ritual. Anyway, this is what I wrote this morning. Silly I know. But somehow appropriate...

I will not tell you
For whom to vote at the polls
But I will say this:

It’s Election Day
You have a civic duty
So get out and vote

And as for myself?
I Am Woman – Watch Me Vote!
Now, off to the polls…

Feel free to add your own (thanks to Bryan for this idea).
Maybe we can make it a contest. Like the Crouch Music & Fine Arts Library Halloween Haiku Contest. (and thanks to Sha for this one).
I will be thinking of a worthy prize...

Since I'm first, I'm adding my own haiku:

At the close of day
We can all celebrate this:
NO ADS FOR TWO YEARS!!!

It's lame, but it's got a message.

Blue state or red state?
It does not seem to matter.
God is still in charge.

Nice.

And welcome to RevGal.

I am a church planter in Rogers Park. We should get together and talk...well, if you have the time!

From rain-soaked sidewalk
into a polling booth
Small town Indiana
makes their voices
rise to the call for democracy
To make this world a better place!

Corny...but that's Indiana for you!

I guess that makes me a pal
Surely not a gal.)

I wish the candidates did.
