“Come from the winds and breathe upon these, that they may live” - Ezekiel 37:9
In ancient Hebrew, the word is ruach. In Greek, pneuma. And Latin, spiritus. In English, we translate it into three different words: “breath”, “wind”, and “spirit”. As Chicago is the “Windy City”, we have the wind, divine breath, as a constant reminder of God’s presence among us. Ultimately this presence is a spirit of peace—a spirit so desperately needed in a community where everyone is rushing about and in a world of violence and war. In such a time and place as this, let us be grateful that we can call upon the Wind of Peace to bring us to new life.
