Giving Thanks

"If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

I am thankful for the myriad blessings in my life. Namely...
  1. I give thanks for the abundant love and support I have from family and friends. And I am thankful for the technologies that allow me to stay in contact with such a geographically diverse support system. Especially MySpace.
  2. I give thanks for wonderful communities I can call home. I have fallen in love with the city of Chicago, and you know what? Chicago loves me back. I so enjoy the South Loop where Wind of Peace is blowing about. And I delight in the Qumbya community.
  3. I give thanks that I have not one, but two jobs (planter for WoP and community organizer for The Interfaith Alliance), both of which allow me to join with others to pursue peace on earth, justice for all people, and healing for our world.
  4. I give thanks for music, for the way it speaks to my soul and for my soul. I am especially thankful for karaoke, though I don't go often enough.
  5. I give thanks for this life, brimming with wonder and overflowing with love.

Tell me, for what do you give thanks? Please leave a comment...

Hi Rachel! So much to be thankful for this year. I'm especially thankful for your presence in the region and your work starting a new church. I pray that God continues to bless that work as sacred and holy. Have a great Thanksgiving

Rachel- I am thankful for so many things, but mostly for my friends and family. Of course, there is the boundless grace provided to me by Jesus Christ! Thanks be to God for my wonderful sons, Bryan and Colin..they are truly a gift from above! I am so happy that you have found Chicago and the people you have met. I know you will bless them with your love and grace. There is so much spirit filling the halls at ACC! We have been blessed with a wonderful interim minister, who is helping us heal from this past year's concerns. I hope that you have a blessed Thanksgiving. Take care. Debi <><
PS-I look forward to reading your blog! You inspire me!

I wandered across your blog today. I really enjoyed reading it and hope you don't mind my sharing my thoughts.

I am grateful for my dear friends, old and new, whom I continually learn from and grow with whenever we have time together.

I am grateful to my wife, whose patience and devotion in working with our two autistic sons inspires me every day. Speaking of whom, I am grateful to my sons, who teach me so much and provide such joy to my life.

I could go on and on, I suppose. But let me say lastly that I am grateful to this strange thing called the blogosphere for allowing me to meet interesting and inspiring new people.

Blessings to you.

Okay, so I asked your nephew what he is thankful for. This is his list, in this order:
• Himself (I was told to just write “me,” but I wanted to make sure you knew he was referring to him, Will—I do not show up until item #3)
• Bad guys going to jail
• Mom and dad
• Squanto—without him the Pilgrims would not have made it
• People in family
• Mrs. Frazier
• Bike
• Nacho flavored Doritos

Boy, we have so much to give thanks for. Hilary

Can this be the same kid who at 3 professed, "I am thankful for the life that changes"?

And where is Auntie on this list?

Well, the life changes. :-) And Will's so right about Squanto. Nacho Doritos, well, there's no accounting for taste.
